“Like many others, the pandemic left me with an excessive amount of time on my hands. While the chaos was unfolding, I couldn’t help but notice the quiet beauty creeping in the background.

Smog cleared here in Los Angeles, wild goats roamed empty European villages and dolphins toured the canals of Venice. In the absence of daily human activity, nature was given the opportunity to breathe. And although we were apart, I witnessed humanity relearn the importance of connection and community. Which brings me to birth of TROOT.

TROOT is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to planting trees in low tree cover neighborhoods across Los Angeles while engaging the community through its “adopt a tree” program.

TROOT is rooted in the idea that giving back can be as simple and as monumental as watering a tree.

It’s been estimated that Los Angeles County has about 55% of potential space for trees, but only 13% of tree coverage currently exists.

TROOT is here to help change those statistics. I hope you’ll join us.”
